Meet the New Chair of IGB!
“Thank you to the members of Integrity Group Barbados Inc. for the honour and trust conferred in electing me to the post of President of our organisation.
I extend deep gratitude to our Immediate Past President Mr. Andy Armstrong for laying out the blue print for the presidency with his dedicated service, unflappable patience and solid leadership over the years and his continued service to IGB.
The group, having started in 2017 with the goal of addressing corruption and lack of transparency and accountability in public life in Barbados, has seen a steady increase in its public profile and gravitas thanks to the personal profiles, hard work and dedication of its members.
The last 5-6 years have culminated in the passing of the Integrity in Public Life Act, that had been our main focus but our goals must shift slightly to ensure that it does not become a statutory “white elephant.” We will therefore lobby for proclamation, implementation and continuing enforcement of this statute and to assist, we will continue to press for the introduction of companion freedom of information and witness protection legislation.
We are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for IGB to engage in its public education and awareness mandate with respect to integrity. We will expand our community outreach programs and work to extend membership to foster greater inclusivity. The ultimate goal remains a better Barbados with the hallmarks of accountability, transparency and integrity in public life where all are able to thrive personally and professionally.”
